Philosophy

Mission Vishwakarma downloadable software is free and will remain free.

Our goal is to make professional engineering software more accessible, transparent, and community-driven. The basic ability to learn, experiment, design, automate and build engineering workflows should not be locked behind expensive software licenses.

We hope users will support the project through feedback, suggestions, bug reports, crash dumps and diagnostic reports, usage logs, documentation improvements, testing, training material, example files, domain expertise and code contributions.

Crash dumps and usage logs will only be collected with user consent. They help us improve stability, performance, hardware compatibility, and real-world usability.

Organizations may also allocate engineering manpower toward development, testing, documentation, training, or domain-specific validation. All such contributions will benefit the wider Mission Vishwakarma community.

The core principle is simple:

The software is free. Community contribution, sponsorship, services, and support will fund long-term development.

Donations and Sponsorship

At present, we are not accepting monetary donations.

In the future, we may create a proper legal structure to receive financial support for software development, documentation, testing infrastructure, hosting, training material, and community coordination.

Accepting donations in India requires care, especially when money may come from individuals, companies, or contributors outside India. We do not want to accept money casually or informally. Before accepting monetary donations, sponsorships, or grants, we will need appropriate legal, accounting, tax, and compliance advice.

For that reason, Mission Vishwakarma currently prefers non-monetary contribution.

When we are ready to accept monetary contribution, sponsorship is likely to be our preferred route. Sponsorship is better aligned with Free and Open Source Software because sponsors can support public development without making the software paid or exclusive.

Sponsorship will not buy ownership of the project, exclusive features, or control over the roadmap. Sponsored development should benefit the wider community.

Temporary Hardware/AI Support

Mission Vishwakarma development requires suitable hardware for compilation, debugging, graphics development, CAD/CAM performance validation, and compatibility testing.

I am currently planning to assemble a customized computer optimized for Mission Vishwakarma development and testing.

I am also looking for AI sponsors! Consider gifting a Claude Max 5x/20x subscription. This helps write the code a lot faster.

This is temporary hardware/AI support for development purposes. We are not currently accepting monetary donations.

Support

Our goal is to make the software as self-service as possible.

If users repeatedly need personal support, that means we must improve something: The Software documentation, examples, training material, error messages, installation process, or the community knowledge base.

We will create a public forum for community support, issue discussion, workflows, examples, and troubleshooting.

However, some organizations may need guaranteed response time, deployment help, migration support, training, or mission-critical assistance. That requires dedicated human time.

Therefore, once the software is mature and actively used, we may offer paid support plans.

The key distinction is: Software is free. Guaranteed human response time may be paid.

Paid support is not expected to be our primary revenue source. It is mainly for organizations that need reliability, accountability, and timely response.

Service

Once Mission Vishwakarma is in active use, many engineers, developers, trainers, and domain experts may be able to provide expert guidance around it.

The software will remain free. Professional services around the software may be paid.

Mission Vishwakarma is not only a software project.

It is an attempt to build an open engineering software ecosystem.

Your suggestions, criticism, testing, documentation, examples, workflows, and domain expertise are welcome.
